What is a Refurbishment Survey?

A Refurbishment Survey is a specialist asbestos survey required before any renovation, refurbishment, or structural alterations in a building. Its purpose is to identify and assess all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that could be disturbed or damaged during the work.

This survey is fully intrusive and may involve destructive inspection to access concealed areas, including spaces behind walls, floors, and ceilings. It ensures that asbestos risks are identified before work begins, helping to protect workers, occupants, and the environment while ensuring compliance with UK asbestos regulations.

A Refurbishment Survey is also required for major maintenance or repair work where significant structural access is needed.
